When I went to the doctor about a month ago, she told me that I seemed to have a pretty big Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is used to build strong bones and aid in the absorption of calcium.
So, I went to Target on my way home from work one day and picked up the D-3 vitamin. According to some of my research, Vitamin D3 helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus.
HOW IS IT WORKING?
I've really noticed a change in my fatigue levels. When I come home, I don't feel like crashing right away like I used to. Instead, I like to get the dishes in the dishwasher, wash some clothes, or create more content for you all!
I'm glad that I tried this because I'm feeling much better. Unfortunately, I don't know the statistical changes in my levels, but I look forward to learning that later!
If you've been on the blog for a while, you probably know that 2018 was a transformative year for me. I've lost nearly 30 pounds just by changing my diet. However, I'm at a plateau in my weightloss journey.
I thought I could go ahead and make a resolution list of my health journey goals for the year. It will be good to look back on later!
START USING MY EXERCISE BALL INSTEAD OF MY ROLLY CHAIR
The ball is somewhat unstable, so it forces you to engage your core more than sitting in a regular chair would. I think this will also help me with my posture (I hope)!
TAKE BETTER CARE OF MY SKIN
To begin, it just doesn't look cute. I already have reddish skin thanks to my Irish heritage, but the disorder makes it worse! The main reason, though, is that I am positive that a ton of bacteria and germs are crawling through my system when I do pick at these things. Wish me luck and pray for me as I go on this journey!
EAT BETTER FOODS
I do want to either take her on more walks or play with her outside more. If I can manage to, I would love to get to the gym a few times a week, especially now that we have a gym with a pool in it. I think pool exercises might be a great option for me!
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?
These are four of my main health/fitness goals for 2019. I want to know what goals you're trying to reach this year. Let me know in the comments below. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter @gemusiclover to follow my progress.
I noticed during Blogtober that I haven't really given an update on my personal health journey since August. That's because September and October were both rather hectic.
TWO CRAZY MONTHS
September and October were both very busy and crazy. In September, my grandfather landed in the hospital for more than a month where he battled pneumonia. Now, he is in another hospital in a rehab of sorts. He is still not home, which makes it difficult for my mom and grandma to see him.
At the same time, my mom was in a boot and then in a cast after foot surgery in early September. I took a bit of time off from work to go help her at her house, which is more that two and a half hours away from mine.
Right after her surgery, I received word that my job was closing down to allow everyone to evacuate before Hurricane Florence hit the area. I was at home for two more weeks. Luckily, I had my computer and was able to keep blogging!
And in October, I participated in Blogtober, where you blog something new each day. This took up a lot of time, as I would do posts like recipes where I actually made everything so I could get pictures!
MY HEALTH STATUS
HEALTHIER HABITS I'VE KEPT UP WITH
While I haven't been eating a low-carb diet recently, I have been drinking more water and fewer "regular" sodas, meaning that I've switched to diet. I've heard people say that diet drinks aren't all that good for you, but I think they are better than other sodas, which will add more than 200 calories to your diet each day.
I do think that this has made a bit of a difference. I think that, if I went back to drinking soda like I used to drink it, I'd rapidly regain the weight.
I plan to move forward in the cooler months with my fitness plans. I want to lose this weight for a number of reasons, but mostly for my health. I don't want to have a number of complications a few years from now because of my weight.
Last week, I had met my 30-pound weight loss goal, but I lost it when Halloween came and I started to get candy and other things for myself or from others.
I plan to revamp my weight loss goal plan and to make a better effort to take care of myself. Aside from my physical health, I've also taken some precautions to better my mental health. I've been thinking through my feelings a lot more, and we've also been attending a church that makes my heart so happy! I'm excited about the things to come and I look forward to continuing to better my health!
