After seeing the amazing reviews of a fellow blogger and vlogger, I decided to give Joah Beauty a try. Joah Beauty products are said to be based off of K Beauty products. For my review, I wanted to try a foundation, primer, and a lip product. Please note: I didn't get a special discount, but the entire store was (and still is as of today) having a 25 percent off sale. WHAT I FOUND

There are without a doubt millions of people who will be going into this weekend without a father or grandfather to celebrate. Because my father isn’t in my life anymore (by my own choice), and because my grandpa recently passed away this year, I am now one of those millions who may feel a little off this Father’s Day. I do have an awesome father-in-law and grandfather-in-law to celebrate, and I suppose my brother and husband are both fathers to furry little friends. However, I know this is an issue that many deal with. Today, I’ll be giving suggestions on how you can enjoy this holiday even if your father isn’t in the picture, or if you’ve lost the loved ones you would traditionally celebrate. Keep reading for more: HONOR A FATHER FIGURE
Take them out to lunch, buy them coffee, or send them a special card. Do something to celebrate them and thank them for being a father to the fatherless. CELEBRATE THE LIVES OF FATHERS/GRANDFATHERS YOU HAVE LOST
ENGAGE YOUR SPIRITUAL SIDE
Religious spirituality might not be for you, but perhaps simply meditating and focusing on the intricacy of life and of yourself will help you engage your spiritual side. This can help you forget about the worries and anxieties that you associate with Father’s Day. INTERVIEW YOUR PARTNER IF YOU ARE CHILDLESS
Ask your partner what they would want to teach your child or what they think is the most important thing they learned from their father. The answers will not only help you learn even more about your partner, but will also help you understand what they’ll be like as a father! GO SEE A MOVIE
These include the new Spider-Man movie, Men in Black: International, Dark Phoenix, Aladdin, Ma, and so many more. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SALES
Good Housekeeping has actually gathered a list of sales happening at some of your favorite stores, both online and in person!

3: BATH AND BODY WORKS STRESS RELIEF LOTION | $13.50

Another month has blown by, which means its time for me to tell you some of the things I loved this last month. Let's get right into it: COLOURPOP X DISNEY VILLAINS: HADES | $25
ULTA X AVENGERS SUPERCHARGED - $8
TARTE SUGAR RUSH ITEMS | ~$25
TIKTOK MAKEUP LAPSE VIDEOS | FREEI uploaded one of my timelapses onto YouTube so you could see what I'm talking about. Tik Tok is kind of like Musicly and Vine put together. I like using it to make videos of my "transforming" into my makeup. I think that it gives me confidence, even if I'm still not the best at doing my makeup. I feel like I'm improving, and that's what matters to me! THE INNER WORLD | $8
FRIENDSHIP COLLAR | ~$40
SO, THAT'S IT!Those are all of the products that I've loved from April! I'm looking forward to a few other things in May:
What did you love this month? Let me know in the comments or Tweet it to me! LEGAL: All photos in this post are my own.
Welcome to another favorites post! I’m excited to share with you the few things I’ve tried this month that I’ve really enjoyed. I say few because I didn’t get to try much. However, there are a few things I know I love enough to share with you! 12-PACK CELAVI ESSENCE FACIAL SHEET MASKS | $10.95
MORPHE 35M BOSS MOOD ARTISTRY PALETTE | $25 |
I’d be lying if I said I went in to Ulta with the desire for this particular palette. In fact, I was actually hoping I’d find a James Charles palette. Alas, there were none in stock. However, I was so excited to start playing with the palette, and I’m lowkey in love with it. There are plenty of both matte and shimmer shades. Both are super pigmented. I’ve never had a nicer brand eyeshadow palette. Most of the palettes I have are either the Ulta brand, or a drug store brand. I loved that I didn’t have to pack on the color as hard. I’m looking forward to getting the James Charles palette, though. I've already played with the brown and red shades, and I'm pumped to dive in to the purples and greens! Wish me luck! |
LAC MATTE LIPSTICK SHADE: STARLET | $1
Whenever you find that "magical" lip color that you can't live without, it can be hard to give it a break. But, I've recently started wearing this lipstick, which I'm pretty sure Jonathan bought for me as an advent calendar gift when we did our little challenge this past Christmas. I just really like the red shade and the lipstick is truly matte, which I appreciate. It just goes to show that you can find great options anywhere, even at the dollar store! |
“US” MOVIE | TICKET PRICE
I think that some people are giving this movie hate because they don’t understand it. The message is a little more buried than the one that was presented in his movie, “Get Out.” However, I really enjoyed the movie and thought that it had some valuable themes and lessons. If you’re interested, check out Monday’s post where I dissect some of the themes and symbolism I found in the movie. There will be spoilers though, so go get your tickets and check it out quick! |
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO IN APRIL
- Purchasing ColourPop’s Dr. Facilier Collection. It is a small kit that comes with a lipstick, lip gloss, and a highlighter. They have one for each of the big villains (save a few, of course).
- Purchasing Tarte’s Sugar Rush skincare kit, especially the star factor cleansing brush. I felt the brush when I was in Ulta, but they were out of stock, so I didn’t get to get one this time around.
- Good Friday/Easter because I will have a long weekend to hopefully spend with family or give back to the community.
What did you love from this month? Share your products, services, and entertainment ideas below so we can all check them out!
JEFFREE STAR VELOUR LIP SCRUB | $12
On Black Friday, I took advantage of Jeffree Star's gigantic mark-down sale and actually ended up getting mine for only about $8. Mine is in the scent Hot Cocoa Peppermint and it smells amazing! The other thing I really liked about this product is that there are not a ton of mystery ingredients in them. Jeffree Star's products are also cruelty-free and vegan. I'm not personally vegan, but I have a friend or two who is, and I'm sure it can be somewhat difficult to find various products that fall into their lifestyle choice! Anyway, this is great for cracked lips and I'll be looking forward to using it more this winter! |
JEFFREE STAR VELOR LIQUID LIPSTICK | $18
For the most part, I really love Jeffree Star's Velor Liquid Lipsticks as well. I would say that I get a pretty good wear of them, and they do seem to matte down a bit. I personally love a good matte liquid lipstick, so I was happy to get this for myself this Christmas. This shade is Calabasas and it gives real dark mauve vibes to me. I am actually in love with this shade, or anything close to it. A good dupe, in my opinion, is Hard Candy's Velvet Mousse in the shade Heather. It retails at about $6 or $7 in somewhere like Walmart or Target. I did manage to pick this one up during that mega sale. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a great smell. But, I will chalk that up to the brand keeping the formula vegan and cruelty-free. |
MORPHIE M143 LARGE FAN BRUSH | $7
I originally saw this fan brush on the ULTA website, and I wanted to get myself one for highlighting. I've seen a lot of people use fan brushes, but I've never actually owned one. When I got the brush, however, it was much larger than I expected. I've been using it for contour, as you can see by the brownish tinge on the bristles. I actually really like the brush and I think it does the job pretty well. I think I may pop in to ULTA when I have some spare cash so that I can get myself a smaller version that will work for my highlighter. |
AMAZON ECHO DOT | $30
I would be lying if I didn't say that I absolutely LOVE the Amazon Echo Dot. I saw them on sale before Christmas and decided to get one for the house. We now have two in our home, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Alexa has proven to be so useful for getting my news, weather updates, and for listening to some music to help move my day along. I actually wrote a whole post about how the Amazon Echo Dot makes my life better. Check out the full post here: Five Ways the Amazon Echo Dot Makes My Life Better. |
TANTAN SMART PLUGS, 2-PACK | $19
After we added the Amazon Echo Dot to our home, we saw that adding a few smart plugs could make our lives a little bit easier. These smart plugs are wifi enabled, so everything can be communicated on the same network. I've plugged my coffee machine in to one of these and I pre-load my coffee grinds and water the night before. When I wake up, I simply say, "Alexa, turn on the coffee machine" and I have coffee that is hot and ready for me to pour after I finish putting on my makeup and clothes. Such a great investment! |
MY FAVORITE YOUTUBE CHANNEL | THE INGHAM FAMILY
The Ingham Family has been so much fun to watch in January. I guess I'm yearning for some children of my own! The channel follows mom and dad Sarah and Chris as well as their children Isabell, Isla, and Esme. The couple are about to have their first son, and I've loved watching the family prepare for their new addition. | |
MY FAVORITE MOVIE | AQUAMAN
Hands-down, Aquaman was my favorite movie from January. I really loved how Jason Mom portrayed the super hero, and I really liked the storyline. I would highly suggest catching this movie before it gets out of cinemas near you. If you miss it, please do yourself a favor and rent it. I really liked it! |
I was sick of plucking unruly hairs and, although my facial hair was blonde, I felt like I had much more of it than the average woman.
This photo to the left doesn't have much of a focus point but, if you look closely, you can see the tiny and numerous blonde/white hairs around my jawline. I really hated this because my preference is to remove hair. If it wasn't this thick, I probably wouldn't have even bothered with it. I just want to stress that it was ME who didn't like having this much facial hair, not anyone making fun of me or telling me I should get rid of it. I also want to stress that what you do with your facial hair is your choice. This post isn't me telling you that you have to remove it to feel or look beautiful. This is just what I prefer, and that should be OK for me! |
THE RESULTS/HOW IT FEELS
Please excuse the un-made bed in the background and take a look at my jawline now. You likely see some stray hairs that I may have missed but, for the most part, there is far less hair on my face. My skin mostly feels really soft, and I don't necessarily feel the pricklies that you feel after a few days without shaving your legs. That's probably because facial hair is a lot less coarse than other hairs, so it won't come back as think as leg hair does. I am planning on doing a face mask tonight to see if my face feels more moisturized now that the hair is out of the way! |
HOW I DID IT
I feel like this method worked for me rather well. To start with, I used Nair hair remover cream for the face. To use this, you simply apply a thick coat of the cream to your face, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and wash it off. It works like regular Nair, but it is for your face. I then used this $10 facial hair shaver to remove hair in areas that I didn't apply Nair, mainly on my neck and closer to my mouth and eyebrows. The Nair does kind of burn, and adding lotion to it will make it burn a bit at first, but it will subside after a few minutes. Your face will feel naked, because it is, and it will be smoother. |
CONCLUSION
I've added the link to the products I want so you can check them out for yourself! Check out my list here:
FACE MASKS
This can be the perfect stocking-stuffer for the person in your life who LOVES to pamper themselves or take good care of their skin. I prefer sheet masks, so this year, I'm asking for a 12 pack of the Celavi Essence Facial Paper Face Masks! I like them best because they don't have to dry like peel-off masks or clay masks! |
2ND GENERATION ECHO DOT
FOLDING TV TRAY TABLE
Jonathan and I have a chair in our room that I like to sit in sometimes, but it is really hard for me to use my laptop in the chair because it sits so low on my lap. To fix this, I want to get a TV Tray Table like the one from Amazon. This will raise it up to where I can reach it and allow me to use my wireless mouse! |
CLOTHING
It's so funny to me that I actually WANT clothing for Christmas. When you're a kid, you always hate getting that! However, I always like to add new pieces into my wardrobe. My favorite stores are Rue21, Forever 21, and Torrid. All of them have plus-size options! |
A LABEL MAKER
I know this seems weird, but I really want a label maker this year! I found the DYMO LabelManager 160 Handheld Label Maker on Amazon. I feel like this will help me organize I bit better and label things legibly! |
HIGH-QUALITY DSLR CAMERA
At my job, I use my camera often. But, it isn't MY camera. It belongs to my place of work. I really want my own camera, but this is always a big-ticket item. I've been told by many of my photographer friends that you should always try to buy the camera body new, which is the expensive bit, and try to find inexpensive used lenses. |
MOVIES
AN EARRING HOLDER
I currently use a jewelry box to store my earrings and things. I recently inherited a nicer box with different smaller compartments and a place to hang my necklaces. However, I'd like to get something like the Mango Steam Jewelry Organizer for Christmas. It just keeps the earring pairs together well and will keep me from searching for matches all morning when I'm getting ready! |

HEALTH AND BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Soo'AE Revive Gold Peel Off Mask | $6.98
I've been trying more now than I ever have to take better care of myself in as many ways as possible. This month, I focused on my skin care routine. I have previously used the charcoal peel off mask from this brand and was really happy with the results, so I was excited when I saw a gold face mask from the same brand. The product applies well with a silicone-tipped applicator, and it smells like citrus fruits. It leaves you feeling clean and refreshed. The only downside of this product is that it comes in such a small bottle. I only used the charcoal mask about five times before I ran out, but it was fairly inexpensive! |
L'Oreal Paris Total Cover Foundation | $10.97
I bragged on this product's cousin last month, but I ran out of that product and wanted to find something new. I found a matte foundation that wasn't really giving me the coverage I wanted. So, when I saw this full-coverage option in the brand I loved last month, I decided to purchase it and give it a go. This make-up really does stay on all day, and a little goes a long way, so you don't have to worry about wasting the product and having to use a lot in one sitting. I got the lightest shade, because I'm literally the shade of a ghost. The only downside is that there are only about 12 shades, so it doesn't cater to everyone's skin, but maybe they will extend the shades that they offer if enough people seem interested. |
FOOD!
OH SNAP! Pickling Co. Dilly Bites | $0.99
So, because Jonathan and I live hours away from our families, we often find ourselves traveling A LOT! When we stop at the gas station, we normally grab a snack for the road. However, as most of you know, gas station snacks aren't too kind on the waistline, so I desperately searched for something that could satisfy my craving for salt without adding too many calories. Pickle-lovers rejoice! The gas station near us now sells these beauties, which are sliced pickles with no brine added, and they basically just have sodium. They are so good, and Jonathan said he saw a spicy-flavored packet last time we were in the gas station! |
Bass Pro Shops Original Beef and Cheese Sticks | $0.99
Another great salty snack for people who are trying to cut out lots of carbs but still stocking up on snacks at a gas station are these beef and cheese sticks. I have to admit that eating non-refrigerated cheese was a little weird. The cheese was really brittle, but it tasted good with the beef jerky, so I can't complain too much! This snack does contain some fat, but there are no carbs, which makes it a great snack for people on the Keto diet or a low-carb diet like myself. Trust me, you're going to want to save your carbs for this next treat! |
Gabbie's Low-Carb Peanut Butter Pie | PRICELESS!
So, I had to throw one of my own creations on here. This little treat is the perfect way to indulge your sweet tooth without loosening your belt. This simple three-ingredient pie can be enjoyed about an hour after you make it, and you can either may your own low-carb crust, use whole graham crackers as the crust (if you have a few carbs to spare), or you can do like I did and pour some of your creamy peanut butter pie mix into these tiny, perfectly-portioned graham cracker crusts. If you want the recipe for this, come back to my blog next week, when I'll share how to make this delicious treat! |
ENTERTAINMENT
Equalizer 2
If you are a fan of action movies, you'll absolutely love the newest Equalizer movie, starring Denzel Washington. The plot follows Robert McCall, a man with a military background who enacts justice for people who can't seem to do it for themselves. In this movie, McCall helps a woman who was sexually assaulted, a troubled young man, and a Holocaust survivor, all while trying to solve the murder case associated with a dear friend who was killed while she was on the job. |
DDU-DU DDU-DU | BLACKPINK
I have an addiction: it's KPOP. It started when my best friend Lauren introduced me to BTS in college. I really only like BTS, EXO, and BLACKPINK. This song is honestly so lively and fun to listen to, even if you aren't sure what the singers are saying. They rap, they sing, they dance! You'll love BLACKPINK and their energy. I'll live a link to the YouTube video for the song below. Speaking of the video KPOP videos are so much better than American music videos. Check it out for yourself! |
Grav3yardgirl | YouTube Channel Fav!
Grav3yardgirl, also known as Bunny, has always been one of my favorite YouTubers. She teamed up with Shane Dawson recently to change up her channel, and I'm loving Bunny 2.0. My favorite video is actually one of her more recent ones. She and her partner go to this graffiti park in Texas and show us parts of the city like you've never seen them before. Check it out and subscribe for awesome content! |
That's it, that's all of them!
Love you guys!
