MOVIE REVIEW: ME TIME

There's nothing better than those lazy weekends when you stay at home after a long and tiring week of work and do something together as a family. Jonathan, my mom, my brother and I decided to watch Me Time, a movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart, on Netflix over the weekend. Here's the good ole' Opinionated One review.

THE PLOT

Sonny is a dedicated stay-at-home dad, but had a wild past with his best friend, Huck, who has a habit of throwing elaborate and somewhat dangerous parties. As Huck is planning his 44th birthday party, he calls on Sonny to attend. Sonny's wife decides she needs to take a vacation alone with their children, since she is rarely home due to the fact she is the family's breadwinner. She encourages Sonny to get in touch with Huck to celebrate with him. Sonny finds himself in the dessert with partygoers, but the event quickly changes after he finds his best friend is being hunted down by a loan shark. 

THE STORYLINE | 5/5

I loved that this storyline takes a twist on the tired housewife narrative. Mark and Kevin are so funny together, and the antics they get into are hilarious. At the end of the day, they come together for a feel-good ending! I love the way to plot evolves and explores the ideas of family and friendship.

THE ACTING | 5/5

You can't go wrong with Mark and Kevin in the lead roles. They are comedy and action movie veterans, so the movie was done really well in the acting sense. Regina Hall played Sonny's wife, and she is also a phenomenal actress. The children were also really good in their respective roles. Overall, no complaints!

THE STUNTS | 4/5

There weren't many stunts in this movie, but there is one scene in particular I don't want to give away that I thought was done well. Of that, I think the stunts were great. Just surprised there weren't more.

OVERALL RATING | 5/5

I can't recommend this movie enough! It kept our attention as was filled with a bunch of laughs and memorable moments. I would recommend younger children skip out on this, but it is probably safe for children 10 and older. You can find it on Netflix.
