With Spooky Season right around the corner, Jonathan and I finally got to see It Chapter Two. The long-awaited sequel, which was released nearly two years ago, was pretty good. But how did chapter two stack up? Keep reading to learn more:

STORYLINE | 4.5/5
SCARINESS | 2/5
I will say that, to the person who is easily scared, this film will be scary for you. You will jump and you might be a little scared if you're walking out of the movie theatre alone. However, if you're a horror connoisseur, this film is childs play!
SPECIAL EFFECTS | 5/5
UNDERLYING MEANING | 3/5
FINAL THOUGHTS AND REVIEW | 4/5
I'd give this film a 4/5. I enjoyed watching it and thought that the film as a whole was good as a film. I personally don't think it is a good horror film, but I also don't know if it wasn't really scary, or if my tolerance for scariness increases by the year.
Anyway, it is definitely worth a watch. Let me know what you think of the film in the comments.

I recently made the insane decision to go to a showing of Avengers: Endgame at 11 p.m. on a Saturday. I was happy that no one was sitting right on top of me, so getting home after 3 a.m. wasn’t too much of a trade-off for me.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil anything in the movie. I don’t want to push readers away by sharing the plot. I fell even more in love with the character of Tony Stark in this film. Traditionally, Stark is usually disliked for his arrogance and wealth. But, I appreciate the man, and I want to explain why!
1: HE DOESN’T ACTUALLY HAVE A SUPER POWER OR SPECIAL TRAINING
2: HE IS CONFIDENT AND HATED FOR IT
3: HIS CHARACTER REALLY DEVELOPED IN THE MOVIE SERIES
4: HIS INTENTIONS WERE GOOD FROM THE START
5: HE MADE SOMETHING OF HIMSELF OUT OF TRAGEDY
Tony masked his pain with sarcasm and arrogance, yes, but he still rose from the ashes of that pain to become better.
I’m interested in hearing who your favorite Avenger is and why. Let me know in the comments, or let me know on social media. Use the #TheOpinionatedOne to let me know on Twitter or Instagram!
It’s time for yet another Movie Monday here on the blog. I was really excited to go to the movies this past weekend just to get back into the swing of normal life. My mom, brother, and I debated over which movie to see, and we all decided to go ahead and watch Shazam!
Let’s start with the plot before I get into the ratings. For our final rating today, we will use “Zaps!”
ACTING | 5/5
I really enjoyed the acting in this movie. I know that the boy who plays Billy Batson, Asher Angel, has been on Disney Channel’s “Andy Mack” as one of the lead characters. Overall, I didn’t feel like I was watching a movie, which is important to me!
THE STORYLINE | 5/5
I know that superheros like Shazam have been around forever in comic books and TV series. However, I really enjoyed the storyline. I thought it was especially interesting that Billy could turn in to a whole different person to protect his identity! That helped him out several times in the film.
There is also a very touching message in the film about family being those who care for you most, not necessarily those who you were born to!
THE MEANING | 5/5
As I just mentioned, the message was really great. Not only was the message that home is where the heart is, not necessarily who you share DNA with, but it also gave a strong “we can do anything together” message!
I really think this is a great movie in the way of meanings.
SPECIAL EFFECTS | 5/5
FINAL RATING | 5/5
You must go see this film before it leaves theatres! I saw it in a regular theatre, but I bet this movie would be great in 3D. I absolutely loved it and really liked the bit at the end. I didn’t expect the ending, and it can be hard to get those past me!
I recommend this movie for all ages. I think boys, girls, parents, and grandparents will all find something to love about this movie!

After seeing rave reviews for the movie, and after enjoying Peele's movie "Get Out" a few years ago, I jumped at the chance to go see "Us" a week ago. To give you some context, please check out the movie trailer below.
THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE MOVIE. IF YOU DON'T WANT IT TO BE SPOILED, CHECK BACK AFTER YOU'VE WATCHED THE FILM!
Adelaide visits her childhood home along with her husband and two children. Haunted with a traumatic childhood memory of seeing her doppelgänger inside of a funhouse after walking away from her parents during a night at the boardwalk, she is fearful of seeing the girl again.
Her worst nightmare comes true after her son sees a family of four standing in the driveway late at night. After calling the police, the family is confronted face to face with their own copies, who are out to kill them.
The family spends the night running from their shadows and protecting one another while the world around them goes insane.

HERE'S WHAT I TOOK AWAY
I haven't really consulted any reviews or interpretations of Peele's latest film. But here's what I took away from it:
LESSONS I THINK WERE BEING TAUGHT
1. FAMILIAL ROLES
There is a lot of pressure on men to be the "knight in shining armor" who will protect and be this confident macho man. While the father of the group did a lot to protect his family, he wasn't the real fighter of the movie. It was Adelaide.
2. OUR OWN WORST ENEMY
We have good and evil, represented by the people who live in the light and the people who live underground in darkness. At the end, we find out that Adelaide is really the original shadow. It is revealed that she switched with the real girl all those years ago. Darkness won, but good became evil when it was subjected to the things that were feeding it.
3. POLITICAL THEMES/GOING ABOUT THINGS THE WRONG WAY
During this film, the shadows kill their owners and then form a giant wall around the world holding hands. While this is normally a symbol of peace and unity, that wasn't the case in the movie. I saw comparisons here between Trump's proposed wall. The shadows were all united and likely felt joy that they were free, but they went about it the wrong way by killing millions of people.
4. EVERYTHING IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS/PERCEPTIONS
The other shadows can't speak. They just make incoherent noises. The "shadow" Adelaide can speak, but she has a creepy brokenness to her voice. At the end, we find out why. She was choked by shadow Adelaide, which may have crushed her windpipe during her developmental years. And, while we were scared and sad for Adelaide the entire film, it turns out she did a terrible thing and actually kidnapped a girl. We are supposed to think she is good, but it turns out that she is bad.

It's Christmas Eve and, like most families who celebrate Christmas, you likely have your own traditions. If your traditions include watching movies, you'll absolutely love today's blog post. I'm going to share with you 10 of my most favorite Christmas movies that I hope you watch today!
1. WHITE CHRISTMAS
3. A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS
4. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS
5. HOME ALONE 1 & 2
6. JINGLE ALL THE WAY
7. THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES
8. I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
9. CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS
10. THE HOLIDAY CALENDAR
Happy Merry Movie Monday! Today's post will be on the classic Christmas movie White Christmas. For today's rating system, we're going to use a snowflake!
Bob and Phil are in the army putting on a Christmas show for their comrades on Christmas during World War 2. They are bombed and Phil saves Bob by pushing him out of the way of falling debris, injuring his arm. Bob, who is a performing artist, tells Phil to let him know what he can do to repay him. Phil decides to use his injury to guilt Bob (playfully) into becoming a duo act.
The two become famous performers after the war and even become producers. They decide to follow up on a request from a former army pal by visiting his sisters, Betty and Judy, who are a performing duo. The four meet and there are instant sparks. In order to help the sisters escape from a landlord who says they owe him money, Phil gives the girls he and Bob's tickets so they can get to Vermont for their next performance.
When the men finally get to the train, they find the girls and decide to go to Vermont with them. The girls are set to perform in a cozy inn and are looking forward to the amazing amounts of snow, but they arrive to a green landscape with no snow and an inn with no audience. After Bob and Phil find out the inn belongs to their former general, they begin to plot a way to get more people to the inn to save it from going bankrupt.
ACTING | 5/5
This film stars Bing Crosby, a famous singer, as well as George Clooney's mother, Rosemary Clooney. Other notable actors include Vera-Ellen and Danny Kaye! The acting is great, especially for the time!
THE STORYLINE | 5/5
The storyline is unique in that it isn't all about Christmas, but kind of about the Christmas spirit and the idea that you should help those in need. It was an interesting way to go about it, because it wasn't like the general was really suffering.
THE MEANING | 5/5
This film upholds the Christmas idea that helping others is far more important than helping yourself. Bob and Phil decided to spend a ton of money to get their cast and crew to the inn to put on a great show because of the admiration he had for the general and the hope he had for improving his situation.
At the end, when they were performing "White Christmas," it began to snow. Throughout the film, Bob and Betty fall in love, which also plays into the popular Christmas theme of opening your heart to a new person.
THE EDITING | 5/5
After taking into consideration that this film was shot and edited in 1954, the editing is quite good. I would say for its time, it was done well. Obviously people love it because it is still a Christmas classic today!
It's Merry Movie Monday, so its time for yet another movie review of another Christmas movie. This week's movie was one that I caught on Netflix, so I'm hoping it is still there for you to enjoy!
For today's rating system, we've got to use a calendar! Check out the end of the review for my total rating.
Abby Sutton is a young, talented photographer, but she finds herself stifled at her full-time job, where she takes photos in what seems to be a department store. She gets a huge surprise at Christmas time when her best friend Josh returns back home after traveling around the world.
ACTING | 5/5
I personally really enjoyed the acting. Both of the main actors, Kat Graham and Quincy Brown, are well accomplished in the acting world and had great chemistry. I would have to say, though, my favorite character was Gramps, played by Ron Cephas Jones.
THE STORYLINE | 4/5
Of course, Christmas movies that involve finding true love are a dime a dozen. However, I feel like this one has a kind of twist that makes it a bit more interesting. I did have an idea for the ending segment of the movie, but it didn't actually happen, so I was kind of bummed because I feel like it would have made the ending cuter. DM me or ask me in the comments if you're interested in knowing my ideal ending. I suggest watching it first, though.
THE MEANING | 5/5
I think that this movie's meaning really plays into the "everything is not what it seems" message. It really drives home the message of recognizing who really cares for you and trying not to take some things too seriously. I love it!
SPECIAL EFFECTS/ANIMATION/EDITING | 5/5
I don't really think there was much animation or special effect in this movie, so I added in the editing. I really liked the editing and think that it was professional and made the story that much better!
Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and would highly recommend adding it to your Christmas movie watch list. I hope you enjoyed today's review. See you again next time!
I know that the Christmas season is technically just beginning, but I have already watched a ton of Christmas-themed movies. I don't know what to say, I just feel holly jolly!
I wasn't too excited to see this animated film because the first animated one and the one with Jim Carrey are among my favorites. But my Nana, who rarely leaves the house, wanted to go and see it, so I agreed to tag along! I was pleasantly surprised. For today's rating system, I will be using Grinch heads!
Without further ado, let's talk about the plot.
The more modern version of the Grinch, narrated by Pharrell Williams, features Donna Who (played by Rashida Jones), a hard-working single mother raising the familiar Cindy-Lou Who, an adventurous and tomboy-ish Who, and her two younger brothers.
The storyline also follows the Grinch and his dog Max who must venture into town a few days before Christmas because they ran out of food. When they get there, the Grinch begins to remember his childhood in the Whoville orphanage. This combined with a ton of other Christmas-y things happening throughout the film sparks the Grinch's plan to steal Christmas from the Whos. Meanwhile, Cindy-Lou Who plots with her friends to trap Santa Claus to tell him what she wants for Christmas.
This older film touches on some new themes, but it mostly follows the age-old storyline of helping the Grinch's heart grow two sizes bigger.
ACTING | 5/5
I thought that the cast choices were bold and included Benedict Cumberbatch as The Grinch, Kenan Thompson, Angela Lansbury, and Cameron Seely, who you would most likely know from the 2017 hit "The Greatest Showman." The inflections of the actors' voices were perfect and aligned with the storyline well. I feel like it is really hard to mess up an animated movie, though!
THE STORYLINE | 4/5
I actually really loved the storyline, but some people may be disappointed that this movie took a turn away from the original storyline. But, I think it was really interesting. Cindy-Lou's mom seems to be a nurse, which was cool because you don't typically think about a nurse in Whoville. In addition, I loved that the Grinch was actually really nice to Max. In other films, he kind of uses Max and I like that, in this film, they took time to make sure that Max was considered a friend rather than a piece of property. I thought that the twist was unique, so I'm giving it a 4/5.
THE MEANING | 4.5/5
As I said, this movie does take a step away from what is usually the greater meaning from the Grinch movies, but it does all come back to Cindy-Lou Who changing the heart of the Grinch without even realizing it. I thought that the meaning behind it was nice but thought is was kind of strange that they didn't add any extra meaning since they changed so many other aspects.
SPECIAL EFFECTS/ANIMATION | 5/5
This movie was a project produced by Illumination, which brought us all of the Despicable Me and Minion movies. I think they did a great job with the animation and with really nailing the emotions and body language aspect!
Overall, I would say that you should just go and see it! I loved the movie and I think that children would really like it. I hope that you can take some time to go see it on the big screen before it is out of the theatre!
Wow! Blogtober has flown by faster than a witch on her broom! That's right, Halloween is in only two days. If you're like me (in your mid-20s with no kids and no parties to go to Wednesday night), you're probably planning to sit at home with your significant other, a group of friends, or by yourself and watch some movies.
I'm here to help! In today's blog post, I will give you a few Halloween movie recommendations for adults and for kids. The list will include a short write up on the plot, so you know what you're getting yourself into when you watch. Let's get in to this blog post:
ADULT's HALLOWEEN MOVIE PLAYLIST
The movies on this playlist are recommended for adults or mature teens. They contain more violence, gore, or scary concepts that are best understood by older people.
THE OTHERS (2001)
SWEENY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF Fleet Street (2007)
THE BABADOOK (2014)
THE SIXTH SENSE (1999)
Cole admits to Malcolm that he sees dead people, and Malcolm begins to try to better understand Cole and what's going on. This film has a surprise twist at the end, much like that in The Others, so I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you're looking for a film that isn't an outright horror, but has elements of one.
CHILDREN'S HALLOWEEN MOVIE PLAYLIST
These movies are great options for kids, or for families looking to have a bit of spooky fun this Halloween after trick-or-treating!
HOCUS POCUS (1993)
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (1993)
THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1991)
THE HALLOWEEN TOWN SERIES (1998-2006)
Well, that's all for both of my movie playlists. I hope you will check out these movies this Wednesday when you are looking for something to do between trick-or-treater visits.
