As you're reading this, I will be enjoying a Christmas holiday with my family, so I decided that I would just go ahead and write about what my friends and coworkers got me for Christmas this year. I may do another blog post or maybe a YouTube video that contains what I got for Christmas from my family. Anyway, let's get to it!
WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE
GIFTS FROM COWORKERS
I am blessed to have many thoughtful coworkers. The first gift I got was a box of cookies. He gave them to me a week prior than everyone else gave things because he was going out of town for the rest of the week. They were really good, and he even sneaked some chocolate into the box as well!
MY BEST FRIEND
The Nightmare Before Christmas
"Like Jack Skellington, you are very curious about the world and seek adventure."
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
"Like the Grinch, maybe you are a bit misunderstood, and maybe a bit of a mischief maker, but underneath that tough exterior is a big heart!"
"Your intentions are good, but sometimes you miss the mark by just a little. You know, like that turtleneck you gave as a present last year."
Frosty the Snowman
"You're a jolly, happy soul. The point is, you're full of cheer and just live for the holiday season!"
GABBIE & JONATHAN
Holly Jolly Christmas
"You believe Christmas should be about having fun with family and friends. You like cutting loose around the holidays and even getting a little silly now and then. You are all about the Christmas spirit!"
"You are one of the warmest people we know. You're also all about making your friends and family feel comfortable, cozy, and relaxes -- which is probably what makes you great at throwing memorable parties."
"People are drawn to your bubbly, bright personality. You've got tons of energy and are full of life and love. Stay classy."
Today's blogmas post is all about music, so I'll only be sharing the YouTube video of the song and its title. I hope you enjoy. Feel free to add these videos to a playlist that you can have running at your get-together or just in the background while you're working.
STUCK IN THE SMOKE HOLE OF OUR TIPI
This game goes by many names, but I know it as a White Elephant game. Each person brings a wrapped gift. Each gift should cost the same, so set a price limit. The common limit is $5 to $10. Tear up pieces of paper and number them to reflect the number of participants. Each person will draw a number. The person with the lowest number goes first. They choose from the pile of gifts.
2. ELF HUNT
3. A CHRISTMAS SPIN ON POPULAR GAMES
No matter if it is charades, Pictionary, or another classic game. You can put a Christmas spin on it and make it work for your Christmas party. The favorite idea I saw was doing a Family Feud Christmas game where you would divide your family and have them answer Christmas-themed Family Feud questions! Winning team gets a prize!
4. CHRISTMAS-THEMED TRIVIA
I LOVE this idea and think that I've suggested it before. It is so customizable! I use a site called Kahoot to create free trivia quizzes. I do this mainly for office parties, and it is always a hit. The best part about it is that people can join by using the web browser on their smartphone or tablet! All you need is connection to the internet, and HDMI cable, and a laptop or computer to hook up to your TV. Winner gets a prize!
Many family member differ on their opinions on politics, relationships, and priorities. This can lead to awkward and sometimes heated discussions at the dinner table. If you have relatives who you know will cause an issue with their dinnertime discussions, try one of these four games during dinner to make everyone happy!
GUESS THE THANKFUL COMMENT
A THANKSGIVING TRIVIA GAME
You can make your trivia questions about the history of Thanksgiving, about your family members, or a combination of both! Your family, if you use Kahoot, can use their smart phone's web browser to play.
A TABLE SCAVENGER HUNT
Keep your family occupied for at least part of dinner with a table scavenger hunt game. Don't make it too easy, as they will complete the game too quickly and you won't have any other distraction lined up!
You can make some of the items be things around the dining room or home, some of the food items on the table, and some sneaky hidden items that you plant before your guests arrive. No matter what, this will be sure to keep guests occupied for a while. Promise the winner a prize or even an extra Christmas gift!
"WHO KILLED THE TURKEY?" MURDER MYSTERY
Your guests must spend the evening questioning one another about who they are and what their relation to the turkey is. Who would have a reason to kill the turkey? Have fun with it!
So, for today's Blogtober post, I will be listing a few of my favorite "scary" Netflix shows that I strongly recommend you check out:
This Netflix original show features the two comedic actors playing serious roles. Hill's character Owen suffers from psychosis and Stone's character Annie is addicted to a drug that isn't even available the streets. They both meet at a trail for the drug Annie is addicted to. She claims she only feels happiness when she is on the drug. There is only one season of this show on Netflix "for a limited time."
DROP DEAD DIVA
There are six seasons of Drop Dead Diva on Netflix, and they are so good! Check them out for a funny yet somewhat creepy show this season.
THE WALKING DEAD
He spends the series trying to find his family and trying to survive the harsh zombie land he and the rest of the world has found itself in. There are currently eight seasons of The Walking Dead available on Netflix.
ONCE UPON A TIME
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS
If you have any other ideas about what I or any other reader should check out this weekend on Netflix, leave them below. Thanks for reading!
If you want to take these quizzes for yourself, just click the heading and they will open in a separate tab or page. If you'd like, I'd love to hear your results, so leave a comment with your results, or Tweet me!
Without further ado, let's get into these quizzes and results!
If you're going to a party or taking your kids out trick-or-treating, you may want to dress up. However, it can be difficult to choose what to be for Halloween! But, if you take this quiz, you will be matched up to the perfect Halloween costume for your personality. I almost laughed until I cried when I saw my results for this one. It just seemed so nonsensical to me. But, I guess Halloween is a great time to show your geeky weird side!
We have all seen the twisted backstories of nightmarish gouls and beasts. But, based on your personality, which scary character would you be? This quiz promises to tell you.
I got Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street. Here is what reads in the results "Don't go to sleep! You're Freddy Krueger, a demonic spirit
If you've been to a Halloween party, you know that there are several different "kinds" of people in attendance. There's the lazy costume wearer, the person wearing the "sexy witch" costume, and so on. Apparently, I'm that person with the over-the-top costume, which isn't untrue! The description reads: "You've been planning your costume for weeks. It's creative, cute, and so elaborate that everyone at this party keeps complimenting you. You're the freaking bell of the ball and the party DJ has dedicated Monster Mash to you...Twice!"
I love Disney movies, and this villain quiz revealed me to be one of my favorite (new) villains: Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog.
The description reads: "You're a dedicated individual who isn't afraid to do what it takes to get the job done. You also have powerful friends who expect a lot from you, and you'll always make sure to help them out."
After all, Halloween is all about the scares, gore, and spooky creatures. I could totally understand why this would scare a child. So, as a huge fan of movies, I always think a movie night is the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit. However, watching kid cartoons can be rather boring for you.
To make it easier for my readers who are parents, I wanted to highlight some of my favorite Halloween movies that are kid- and adult-friendly as well as provide a list of movies that I think could work. You can find that list at the bottom of the page! Let's get started!
After hearing a ton of scary sounds, Zach breaks into Hannah's house and finds original copies of R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" series. But when they open the book to check it out, they unleash Stine's imaginative monsters. Will they return the masters to their books? Watch to find out!
THE HAUNTED MANSION (2003)
Sara goes missing and Jim quickly learns that the creaks in the floor boards aren't the house settling, but are rather the hundreds of ghosts haunting the mansion. He and his kids go on a quest to find his wife and save the ghosts of Gracey Manor!
PLOT: Miguel is a rebel. His family has hated music for generations thanks to his great-great grandfather, a musician who left his family behind to pursue his dream of fame and fortune. When Miguel finds evidence that his idol Ernesto de la Cruz was his great-great-grandfather, he tells his family about his passion and they don't approve. He runs away and finds a contest, but he doesn't have a guitar. So, he breaks into de la Cruz' mausoleum and steels his guitar to compete. But, he quickly finds that he has been transported out of the Land of the Living and into the after life. He then goes on a quest to find de la Cruz, get his blessing, and return to the Land of the Living!
PLOT: Casper, a sweet young ghost, lives in a mansion in Maine with his three uncles. James Harvey, a famous specialist, moves into the mansion to communicate with the ghosts. He and his daughter Kat soon experience paranormal activity via Casper and his three uncles.
Casper, however, begins to have feelings for Kat. How will their love story play out? Will brooding gold-diggers get in the way? Check it out!
HOCUS POCUS (1993)
Max, his sister Dani, and Max's friend Allison spend Halloween night trying to stop the witches with the help of Bynx, a magical cat who was once a boy! Will they triumph over the witches? Watch to find out!
