I once had a friend who didn't like celebrating Valentine's Day. It wasn't because she was single; she had a significant other. The issue she had with the day was that your significant other should always show you the same amount of love every day, and shouldn't wait until V-Day to shower you with love. While I agree to some extent, I still think the day is special and should be celebrated! Check out why in today's blog post. LIFE GETS REALLY BUSY!
Spend Valentine's Day with your significant other, or even yourself. We don't always do enough self-care, or spend enough time with our partners. This day is the perfect day to celebrate one another. IT'S A DAY FOR CHOCOLATE!YOUR PARTNER DESERVES A SPECIAL DAY!
I may not be single now, but I was single for my entire adult life. I never went on a date until I was in college! With that being said, I know what it's like to see a bunch of happy couples all around you with no one to celebrate with. So, I wanted to give you some ideas on how you can celebrate this Day of Love if you don't have a romantic partner. TAKE YOURSELF ON A DATEHAVE A SELF-CARE DAY

JEWELRY
Last week, I shared with you a little bit about each love language and how you can celebrate Valentine's Day with a partner who speaks that love language. But today, I wanted to focus on why love languages are so important. 1. HIGHER SATISFACTION IN RELATIONSHIPSMany misunderstandings happen in relationships because of a lack of attention to love languages. Many women like myself have the love language of Quality Time. When we find our partners spending more time on something irrelevant rather than spending time with us, it can make us feel neglected. 2. DEEPER CONNECTIONSWhy do I fall more in love with my husband when he chooses to do something he isn't fond of to bring me happiness? Similarly, why does the look of passion on my husband's face when he's describing something he loves make me love him even deeper? 3. STRENGTHENS NON-ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS
HAVE A HANDS-ON DATE
GIFTS YOU CAN DO TOGETHER
If you give a gift, your partner will likely love it if you give them something you can do together. Maybe it is concert tickets, tickets to the movies, a meal kit, a video game, or something else! There's a ton of things you can buy to do with your significant other!
PRECIOUS MEMORIES
Speaking for all "quality timers," one thing we cherish the most is our memories. We remember the time we spend together, so nothing would be sweeter than having those memories in pictures or some sort of household item.
I know, for example, you can get pictures printed on things like mugs, canvas, blankets, and more! Receiving gifts love language holders love receiving gifts from the heart. These are really nicely thought out, or something they've expressed interest in before. I think that one of my mom's love languages is receiving/giving gifts, mostly because she loves to give gifts to other people, and really appreciates well-thought-out gifts from others.
BUYING THEM SOMETHING YOU KNOW THEY |
One year, I really wanted to have a special piece of jewelry I could always wear apart from my wedding ring. Jonathan and I were at the store together and saw a beautiful opal ring (my birthstone). He bought it for me, and I have almost never taken it off! It feels natural to have it on. If you see something your partner said they like, or if they told you directly, that would be a great thing to get them for Valentine's Day! |
USE A NON-PHYSICAL GIFT TO MAKE SOMETHING THEY'LL LOVE
- Baking something for them
- Cooking something for them
- Sewing something for them, making them a piece of clothing or accessory
- Writing a song, poem, or letter
Be creative and think of way you can use your skills to make your partner something they'll always remember.
MERCH FROM THEIR FAVORITE CREATORS
COOK THEM DINNER
Break out your apron and make something for your partner. Remember that acts of service partners love it when you do something for them, so ordering out may not be the best idea in this case. Take the time to make a menu of foods they love and cook it for them yourself. They will fill extra loved at the end of the night. |
ACTS OF SERVICE COUPONS
DRAW A BUBBLE BATH
We’ve all seen the videos of the romantic nights partners have planned for their loves. They come in the house to find a trail of flower petals leading to a bubble bath. This is perfect because it allows your partner to relax in a bath you took the time to draw up for them. They will feel bubbly when they see this surprise. |
