PRODUCT REVIEW: OLD MOTHER HUBBARD TREATS FOR DOGS

One of my favorite things to get in the mail are VoxBoxes from Influenster. If you don't know, Influenster is a company that works with various brands to connect with influencers who can review their products.

So, to start out, I received these treats for my dog for free. However, we were not in any other way compensated for this review.

One of the things that's so great about dog food and treat reviews is that you don't have to take my word for it.

So, for this product review, I will tell you what I think of the dog treats as far as being a dog mom goes. Then, I will tell you how Maisel, my Australian Kelpie/Pitbull mix liked them.

THE DOG MOM PERSPECTIVE

First of all, I was low-key shocked to get two full bags of treats from the company. They gave us the assorted bag and a bag of their Char-Tar formula.

One thing I really loved about the treats was that they're natural and made with food I'd eat myself. Not that I'd eat a doggy biscuit...

These ingredients include cheddar cheese, apples, sweet potatoes, chicken, and oatmeal. The treats are baked in an oven to keep the flavors sharp.

But what does it matter if I think they're good? What did my pup think?

MY DOG'S PERSPECTIVE

Anyone who has ever met my dog knows that she is a foodie, just like me! She isn't very picky, which makes me happy. But I'm always a little nervous to give her new things.

Part of that comes from allergies. She seems to get itchy when she eats certain foods. However, she's been enjoying these Old Mother Hubbard treats for several days with no allergic reaction.

She gobbled up these cookies really fast, and she liked both the assorted bag, and the Char-Tar mix.

Now that you know how she liked the treats, let me tell you more about the product.

ABOUT OLD MOTHER HUBBARD PRODUCTS

Old Mother Hubbard has its own website, but sells at a variety of shops, including Amazon. The treats are really affordable. The bags I received are going for about $5.50 on Amazon, and they are Prime eligible.

There are a ton of options from how soft or crunchy the treat is, to treats that address specific dietary needs. One of the coolest parts of the website is a treat quiz you can take to see what treats would be best for your dog. Find more information at OldMotherHubbard.com.

Overall, I would say "yes" to giving a recommendation for these treats. Maisel always gets excited when I reach into the treat bags, and I just know your dog will too!

MAY 2019 FAVORITES

Today's post is all about my favorite things from May. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try a lot of new things like I did last month. However, I do have a few things to brag about. Keep reading for a few of my favorite things:

MY NEW GLASSES! | $69.95/2 PAIRS

I haven't gotten new glasses and contact for years. When Jonathan and I learned what we'd get back from our tax refund, we decided we would use the money on some much-needed new glasses.

We go to America's Best because you don't have to pay a fortune if you don't have insurance. You can also get two pairs of glasses for $69.95 and up. They were also able to squeeze me in after a scheduling mishap, so that was awesome.

The left pair is black, and the other pair is purple and black!

PEEL-OFF FACE MAS HEMP SEED OIL | ~$5

So, for Mother's Day, my mom and Nana decided to surprise me with a few gifts, all of which are featured in today's favorites post.

Mom found this peel-off mask on sale and decided to get one for each of us to try. I really like peel-off face masks, but they don't always like me. I say that because liquid-to-dry face masks don't usually like to dry on parts of my skin. However, this one did dry down and peeled off easily.

I still always try to take a shower right after I use these because I always tend to miss one or two patches and I look like I'm peeling from a sunburn when I do.

NEW RUE 21 OUTFITS | $UNKNOWN

One of the outfits my mom picked out for me was this orange dress with blue and white flowers. You can wear this off the shoulder, but I pulled mine up on my shoulders. It has fake buttons down the middle and is actually higher in the front and lower in the back and the bottom.

I have always like high-low dresses. The fabric of this dress is made of really breathable fabric, making it comfortable and great for hotter months.

The second outfit that my mom picked out was this white shirt and, I swear, the most comfortable pants in the world.

The blue and white pants have a vertical pattern, which makes you look taller if you're vertically challenged like I am. The pants are so comfortable that it will feel like you're wearing pajamas.

The shirt is also very cute. It has a kind of overlay that drapes over the bus and arms. I really like the whole outfit.

It is really comfortable and stylist. I got a lot of compliments on both of these outfits. The best thing about these is that they can be found at Rue 21, which is a relatively affordable shop. You just have to find one that has a plus-size section.

THIS HAIRSTYLE

It was less than $8 at Walmart and you can use it in damp or dry hair to help reduce frizz. It also smells great, which is a plus!

I really like braiding my hair, but it can start to look boring after a while. I decided that I would brain a ponytail one day and I freaking LOVE the look!

The only thing that could make the look better is if my hair didn't get too frizzy after wearing it this way all day. However, the next product is pretty good at helping reduce frizz.

"KILL THIS LOVE" BY BLACKPINK

If you're looking for a new song to jam out to, I recommend "Kill This Love" by Blackpink. This is a K-POP girl group, so parts of the song are in Korean. However, most videos you watch will have subtitles available in English. This song is so fierce and features my favorite from the group, Lisa.

MY 5 "HOLY GRAIL" BEAUTY PRODUCTS (UNDER $25)

Everyone has those specific products that they won’t give up! Today, I wanted to share five of my holy grail products ranging from makeup to skincare.

I’m going to tell you the price that I found for the product and where else you could find it:

1: NEUTROGENA’S HYDRO BOOST CLEANSING GEL | $10

I’ve raved about this product in my skincare post, but I really love it and want to brag on it. The Hydro Boost face wash is a wiz at removing makeup, but it does what the name implies: increases moisture in the skin.

The product is $10 on Neutrogena’s website, but can also be found in retail stores like Target or Walmart.

2: MORPHE 35M BOSS PALETTE | $24

I have never had a big-name brand palette until this one, so it makes sense that I would be in love with it. I just love how pigmented the colors are.

One thing that drew me to this palette was the lack of blue colors because I have blue eyes and I don’t think blue looks good on my already blue eyes!

There are tons of colors to choose from, and you can find this palette anywhere Morphe is sold. I purchased mine at Ulta!

3: BATH AND BODY WORKS STRESS RELIEF LOTION | $13.50

Bath and Body Works products are very hit and miss for me. Generally, I love all of the scents that the company offers, but I find that some of the body washes dry out my skin and the body sprays don’t tend to last very long.

But, I absolutely love the company’s Aromatherapy Stress Relief lotion. It includes eucalyptus and spearmint essential oil. According to the Bath and Body Works website, eucalyptus clears the mind, and spearmint soothes and uplifts. The best thing is that this particular lotion collection is super hydrating in my experience. I love it!

And, not only does it hydrate, I think it does a lot toward reducing stress as well. I always feel much calmer and relaxed after using this!

4: JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ EASE TOUCH-UP CRÈME | $7.50

Summer has really taken a toll on my hair. I got a lot of it chopped off last weekend, and I was really hoping that would help. While it helped a little bit, my frizz problem wasn’t completely solved. So, I decided I would reach for a new product to help calm my frizzies.

Frizz can be caused by a number of things including excessive hair washing, genetics, hair chemicals, your brush, or even your blowdryer.

But the good news is that there are several products out there that are specifically used to clear up frizz. I'm glad I got my hands on this one because I really needed it.

This product can be used on dry or wet hair. It adds shine to dull hair and protects hair from UV damage! I love this product, and it smells amazing!

5: JEFFREE STAR’S VELOUR LIQUID LIPSTICK | $18

OK, so if you know me, you know that I love pink/red lipsticks that matte down (for the most part)! I got this lipstick on sale and absolutely love it. It’s made an appearance in a lot of IG posts.

I would say a relatively good dupe would be Ulta’s Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Super Charged. I particularly love the doe-foot applicator on that one. But this is about Jeffree’s product.

I love the way the lipstick feels and I’m always happy to add it to my daily makeup routine.

APRIL 2019 FAVORITES

Another month has blown by, which means its time for me to tell you some of the things I loved this last month. Let's get right into it:

COLOURPOP X DISNEY VILLAINS: HADES | $25

I have posted a lot about this collection since I purchased it in early April. I actually ended up getting a collection that I didn't expect to get. I originally wanted the Dr. Facilier one, but I decided to get a warmer-toned one.

I love the lipstick, and the highlighter is a warm gold color, which is new for me. I absolutely love the formula of both. Not crazy about the lipgloss, mostly because I don't like lipgloss in the first place. But, it came as part of the set. I know that, on their website, you can purchase individual pieces from each collection, but I bought in store!

ULTA X AVENGERS SUPERCHARGED - $8

When I purchased the Hades collection, I decided to look around a bit in Ulta. I came across a collection of matte liquid lipsticks from a partnership with the Avengers.

If you know me, you know I love the Avengers (Iron Man is my favorite). I decided to try it out. I love the color and the fact that it is matte. However, the formula is a little sticky and reapplications will be a must with this product.

However, I really like this product, specifically the applicator. It fits all the curves of my lips!

TARTE SUGAR RUSH ITEMS | ~$25

Just ignore the Hydro Boost in this photo. I purchased the start-shaped brush and the Squeezy Clean face wash from Tarte in early April.

I was so stoked to try them and, I have to say, they do not disappoint. I swear that the brush is the softest thing I've ever felt in my life. The Squeezy Clean formula can take off most of my makeup. I have the Hydro Boost in the shot because I use it after the face wash the remove other makeup and keep my face hydrated. The brush was about $15 and the facewash was around $8!

TIKTOK MAKEUP LAPSE VIDEOS | FREE

I uploaded one of my timelapses onto YouTube so you could see what I'm talking about. Tik Tok is kind of like Musicly and Vine put together. I like using it to make videos of my "transforming" into my makeup. I think that it gives me confidence, even if I'm still not the best at doing my makeup. I feel like I'm improving, and that's what matters to me!

THE INNER WORLD | $8

I really like to play and watch video games that have an interesting storyline. Last time the hubby got paid, he bought himself God of War, which I've really loved watching and helping with. He got me this game, which is filled with puzzles. It is really fun to play, but the instructions are somewhat lacking. Other than that, I really love it and look forward to playing it more!

FRIENDSHIP COLLAR | ~$40

My brother had this thing called a "friendship collar" for his dog, Luna (yellow lab you often see in my snaps/InstaStories). This company not only sells collars, but sells a matching bracelet that doggy moms and dads can wear, too!

I'm looking forward to getting one for Maisel soon, but the one pictured is the one I bought for my mom. Unfortunately, it was too big and she has to send it back for a new one. But, the company is pretty friendly about returns and replacement of damaged items!

SO, THAT'S IT!
